Animal Planet has done it again!  Except this time it’s with elephants!  This is an enjoyable DVD with 2 segments including “Africa’s Elephant Kingdom” and “Queen of the Elephants.”  The “Elephants” DVD was released by Genius Products and Animal Planet on October 13th, 2009 and retails for $14.95.  The DVD is educational and enjoyable to watch.

In the first segment, “Africa’s Elephant Kingdom,” you’ll follow the largest land mammal and its extended elephant family as the clan travels across the vast, life-threatening African plains and struggles to find food, water, and a safe place where they can build a stronger family.  In the second segment, “Queen of the Elephants,” take a trip with conservationists and activists Mark Shand and Parbarti Barua (the only femal mahout or elephant handler in India), as they draw awareness to elephants through their 300-mile journey across the country, while on the backs of elephants.  Check out “Elephants: Animal Planet” today!

My son (who is 3 1/2) is fascinated with elephants.

From all we have read/seen, the most interesting thing I have learned is that elephants actually mourn their dead.
